'My lost heaven'
(A poem-dedicated to the brave Mothers of Palestine)
She said it was better to stay inside;
as she held my hands tight.
Trying to forgive the bullets of love she stole from me,
and with her precious last breaths
she sang me the lullaby of a distant time, of a land she promised would be mine.
she smiled that beaming smile like the glorious Eid moon
and softly whispered;
my child be brave,
as Allah will always be by your side.
After four long days and four lonely nights, they came and asked
Why did i not leave?
I told them it was because Janath (heaven) lay at my mothers feet.
